November, 2014. Transas Marine released new version of FleetView Online.

What's New in FVO - November

February, 2014. Transas Marine has added a Piracy Information Overlay (PIO) to its Navigation product portfolio. The piracy overlay is integrated into the Transas FleetView Online SSAS-tracking software and Navi-Planner 4000 voyage planning software.

The piracy data is provided by Bergen Risk Solutions and is based on intelligence from several recognized and authoritative sources on sea piracy.

The service allows users to overlay piracy information onto existing data and provides them with up to date information, essential for planning avoidance measures when transiting a potential piracy area. This means that active decisions can be made during voyage planning or fleet monitoring to avoid dangerous areas.

Piracy information is displayed in different colours depending on the type of incident. Users can choose how far back in time piracy incidents should be shown in order to filter out old information. PIO data service is automated and updated at minimum every 24 hours.

What's New in FVO - February

January, 2014. Transas Marine has announced today integration of MeteoGroup weather data in Transas FleetView Online SSAS-tracking software. With this integration Transas will have one global weather data supplier across the company's navigation product range.

Utilisation of weather service from the MeteoGroup in the FleetView Online (FVO) is a key advantage to Transas customers. FleetView Online weather interface provides current and 5-day forecasted weather data over the entire chart folio, displaying sea conditions such as wind, waves and swell, current and other weather elements.

Presentation of MeteoGroup's weather forecasts is already implemented in the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS either through Navi-Planner voyage planning software or via an interface between Navi-Sailor ECDIS and MeteoGroup's SPOS program, and will allow for similar data presentation and management across all systems used onboard or ashore.

April, 2013. Transas Marine has released a new version of its FleetView Online web-based SSAS-tracking service.

New FleetView Online version boasts improved user interface, object overlay and chart navigation controls. Object overlay on the charts have been updated to enhance visual appearance and improve user experience at lower scales.

Previous toolbars have been removed and navigation controls added to the chart display to improve viewing ability. A 'Google' style map slider bar has been added allowing scaling through the charts in three ways: zoom slider, mouse wheel scroll or manual selection from lower task bar.

Vessel information panel on the left of the display can be hidden, providing a full screen chart display for presentation views. Layer options for "Show graticule" and "Show gauge" chart settings have also been implemented.

Significant improvements has been done for Port Service functionality. With this option ports icons are displayed directly on the chart display. Additional detailed information is listed in the port information window. As usual, ports can be selected from the list where users can zoom into the port location.

Daily Position Report (DPR) messages can be now forwarded in NMEA-based format which makes it easier to integrate FleetView Online data with a shipping company's monitoring program.

Newly developed "Vessel on map" functionality allows to include a small PNG image showing vessels location in Positon reports & SSAS alerts email and track history for the previous week.

In addition, object clustering in the AIS data has been added to improve display at larger scales.

April, 2012. Transas Marine has launched a new version of its fleet SSAS and tracking service FleetView Online 3.12.

FleetView Online 3.12 (FVO) offers a combined presentation of Transas TX-97 charts and OpenStreetMap (OSM) where both professional marine charts and land charts can be presented simultaneously. There are two more alternatives for electronic charts presentation in FVO 3.12: MapQuest OSM allows to display the fleet on OpenStreetMap in MapQuest style, and MapQuest Open Aerial allows to display fleet on aerial images provided by MapQuest Open service.

For vessels using Thrane&Thrane FleetBroadBand 250/500 and connected to FVO, any number of position reports might be processed by FVO for the fixed price.

Weather forecast presentation has been improved in FVO 3.12 and now includes multicolor gradient presentation and harmonized weather symbology.

FleetView Online 3.12 takes a next step to make professional marine information even more comprehensive. The following additional graphic layers are available now:

Tides. Tides calculation is performed based on Main harmonics as well as shallow water corrections. The calculation process is based on Simplified Harmonic Method of Tidal Predictions that can be found in different publications, for example Admiralty Tide Table.

Tidal currents. Tidal currents database was generated on the basis of information provided on paper nautical charts and in the official editions of atlases and tables. In these publications, tidal current vectors for individual points of the sailing area covered by the given chart or table, are calculated every hour.

Surface currents. Information on the surface current was created after the processing if the primary (observed) data of the American National Ocean Data Centre (NODC and NOAA).

November, 2011. In today's world economy, fleet management becomes more and more essential where information is a key. In response to this, Transas Marine introduces a new version of its fleet SSAS and tracking service FleetView Online 3.11.

FleetView Online 3.11 offers its users three alternatives for electronic charts presentation; Transas Marine proven TX-97 charts with worldwide coverage, OpenStreetMap land charts and any charts provided by Web Map Service. Web Map Service allows to load and display georeferenced images that are generated by a map server using data from GIS database, for example charts from 3rd-party providers, weather forecasts, satellite images, images of industrial zones, and other.

In the new FVO 3.11 version, SSAS and tracking functionality for Area A4 (Polar Regions above 70 degrees North or South latitude) is available for vessels equipped with SAILOR H4122 Iridium SSAS.

Transas Marine has also protected FVO software with the digital certificate to ensure even higher security level when using FleetView Online.

For those, who want to track their fleet anytime and anywhere, an Android client for FVO has been released and can be downloaded from FVO website. It includes a number of the FVO functionalities, such as graphical fleet location presentation, vessel tracks, commands sending to terminal, user zones presentation and editing of alarms, weather presentation, various reports (fleet report, track report, SSAS log). In addition, a mobile version of FleetView Online website is available now for smartphones and tablet computers with any operating system.

Ashore ship management becomes a common thing and allows shipping companies not only to monitor vessel tracks, performance and security, but also to control crew performance and optimize voyage parameters in order to decrease the cost.

Recently, Transas Marine has signed a fleet contract with German shipowner Claus-Peter Offen Tankschiffreederei. The contract was signed for the complete fleet which includes tankers and bulk carriers. An interesting detail of this project is that recently Offen Tankers had a piracy attack in Indian Ocean and the company needed a solution to constantly monitor their vessels. Now, with Transas FleetView Online, this became possible.

April, 2011. New version of Transas FleetView Online (FVO) Tracking service 3.10 is launched with a new AIS Tracking feature available for free.

AIS Tracking feature in demo mode is available for free for Transas FVO users. As soon as your vessel appears in area covered by AISHUB service you can receive additional AIS DPRs generated by AIS installed on board. AIS and Satellite position reports may be integrated into one track or presented separately. With enabled AIS tracking option you might use FVO zone alarms much more effectively to warn your staff or to trigger ship agents activity in due time.

To enable this feature, FVO users should contact Transas Service team at service@transas.com.

In case an area is not covered by AISHUB service and you have a free AIS Data Source for this area, then it can be connected to FVO and the areas covered by your source will be added to AISHUB coverage area.

And for those who would like to have an opportunity to see their vessels anytime and anywhere, Transas has developed a FVO Tracking and SSAS service application for Android based smartphones. At the moment a beta version is available and users who wish to try it can download it from FVO website. We would appreciate your feedback before releasing it via Android Market.
